Which business schools lead on AI readiness?
The seven M7 schools hold the top seven places in the AI Business School Index: Stanford GSB (94.5), MIT Sloan (92.0), Wharton (90.5), Harvard Business School (89.0), Kellogg (86.5), Chicago Booth (85.0) and Columbia Business School (82.5). Stanford GSB offers about 36 AI-integrated courses against a median of 2 across the 60 schools, an 18x gap.

How do international business schools compare?
International schools split into three patterns in the index: Asian schools that score high on AI substance but low on English-language visibility, European schools that lead on research but lag on curriculum, and Israeli schools that produce AI founders at a high per-capita rate.

The Tsinghua gap comes from the five AI engines tested, which favor English-language sources. The index estimates that Tsinghua SEM would rank fourth or fifth, instead of eighth, under a Chinese-engine normalization.
Does brand still decide business school advantage?
Brand, network and placement still matter, but the 5W index argues they no longer settle which MBA programs prepare executives for AI. Harvard, Wharton and Stanford built their positions on those three factors. The index adds a fourth: whether the program requires students to work with AI.
5W's position is that buyers, investors and recruiters now research through AI engines such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, so a graduate who has never been tested on AI starts behind. The ranking shows the credential does not guarantee that preparation. Why did 5W build the AI Business School Index?
5W AI Communications built the index because its clients hire MBAs, and the firm wanted to know whether a candidate's school treated AI as foundational or optional. Every brand, CEO and board that 5W advises staffs teams with MBA graduates and assumes the credential signals preparedness. The data shows that assumption holds unevenly.

What comes next for business school AI readiness?
The AI Business School Index is Volume 03 of the 5W research series, following the AI City Index (Volume 01) and the AI Higher Education Index (Volume 02). The two earlier volumes are compared in AI City × AI University. Edition Two of the business school index is planned for Q2 2027.
The index gives schools two admission cycles before AI readiness becomes as consequential as finance or accounting.
